UDI-Magic FAQs

  • I have my own Custom Excel Sheet formats for Sales, Purchase etc. How do I import data from these Excel sheets into Tally ?

You cannot import it directly. You need XML tags for your Custom Excel Sheet formats.

    PS:-
    - XML tags are basically mapping of Excel sheet Columns to Tally fields.
    - If your Excel sheet format does not match any of the formats given at our site, then XML tags are to be written for it.

  • Who will provide the XML tags ?

Shweta Softwares provides XML for two (2 nos) Excel sheets formats free-of-cost for each UDI-Magic Standard version (Value Pack). For additional Excel sheets, the XML tags are provided on chargeable basis. Please read the terms & conditions given at http://www.rtslink.com/orderinfo.html

  • What are the charges for XML tags for Additional Excel Sheets ?

Please write to sales @ rtslink.com (remove spaces)

  • Can I write XML tags on my own ? Are there any tutorials for it ?

Writing XML tags requires knowledge of :-
    a) XML
    b) Tally Software
    c) MS-Excel macros

    Tutorials have been provided at

  • Which Tally versions are supported by UDI-Magic ?

    Tally 6.3 and higher.

  • Does UDI-Magic Software support Tally ERP 9 and Tally 9 Release 2.14 ?

    Yes.

  • Will UDI-Magic support future versions of Tally also ?

Yes. It is unlikely that any future version of Tally Software will not support any of the features which are currently supported by Tally Software.

  • Which Voucher types are supported by UDI-Magic ?

    UDI-Magic supports all Voucher-types including user-defined voucher-types.

  • Which Tally features are supported by UDI-Magic ? Does it support Cost Centres; Cost Categories; Bill-by-Bill; Multiple Godowns; Multiple Currencies; Payroll etc ?

UDI-Magic supports all features of Tally Software.

UDI-Magic is a robust utility. No change is required in the EXECUTABLE file (i.e. UDI-Magic Software) if you have a new Excel sheet format or if a new version of Tally Software comes out. UDI-Magic requires XML tags which are written in PLAIN TEXT file. Shweta Softwares can provide XML tags for Excel sheet formats which can support any Tally feature (as required) including UDFs (User-defined-fields).

  • I want to import Sales data from MS-Excel into Tally. Do I need to manually create MASTERs for StockItems and Parties ?

No. XML tags are provided such that UDI-Magic first checks for MASTER's in Tally. If the MASTER already exists, nothing is done. If the MASTER does not exist, then it is created. After creating all required MASTER's, UDI-Magic posts Vouchers into Tally.

In brief, if you take up a sample Excel sheet format "Vouchers - Sales transactions with StockItems" and import it, you will notice that UDI-Magic creates several masters (like Ledger masters, Stock Items etc) and then the Vouchers are imported. If you import data into an existing Company and some masters already exist, then UDIMagic skips those masters and creates the Masters only which are required. Next, voucher posting is done.
